Hello,

Thank you very much for visiting my website.

I absolutely hate talking about myself but will do my best to be interesting (and will endeavour not to sound too pretentious in the process).

I am Joseph and I have loved photography ever since I got my first wind-up camera from Boots when I was 8 years old. I have strived (and hopefully succeeded) to improve the quality of my photographs from that day to this.

My work moves between the rugged and wild landscape of my favourite place in the world (Scotland, specifically the Hebrides) to the buzzing and wild in their own way cityscapes of the UK and beyond (most recently Cologne and Oslo).

I’m particularly interested in the abstract - places and things that hold a story or a potential for something “other”, leaving things open to the unique eye and experience of a viewer. Photography has become a way for me to explore this more fully, look more closely, and quite honestly, to live a little more bravely and a little less hidden. It is also the best form of escape I know - bringing you entirely into the present where your mind is focussed on nothing else but what’s in front of you. Through my images, I try to find something vivid in the ordinary (and also just have some fun with a camera).

Art is much the same. I am absolutely gifted at making a mess wherever I go (whether its muddy shoes in the house, spilling things, not ever putting anything away - it’s a talent / significant problem) but my favourite way to create said mess is by painting (the results of which you can see on this website).

So that’s me as far as is relevant.

A selection of my photographs and art are available as prints through my shop page (greeting cards also available).

You can also stay in touch by following me on Instagram (see bottom of page).

I think that’s everything. I hope you enjoy the website.

Joseph :)
